10,000 REASONS

Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship his holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship your holy name

Verse 1
The sun comes up it’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing your song again
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes

Verse 2
You’re rich in love and you’re slow to anger
Your name is great and your heart is kind
For all your goodness I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find

Verse 3
And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore

  Sample Introduction

The most re-quoted verses in the Old Testament are Exodus 34:6-7, where God proclaims his name before Moses. ‘The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.’ This tension of the merciful and yet the just God runs throughout the Old Testament, and finds its answer at the cross of Christ – where he bore for us God’s judgement, so that we could know only the richness of his love. As we sing this next song, let us rejoice in God’s faithfulness and mercy – let us bless the Lord, rich in love and slow to anger.
